ERNEST HOUSE

Our story

1904 – The origins

Paris, 1904. A stone's throw from the Moulin Rouge, Ernest Chausseur opens his boutique and imposes a bold style.

In the hustle and bustle of Pigalle, between cabaret dancers and fashion figures, a unique signature was born: shoes with a strong character, designed to enhance every step.

Thus begins the story of a Parisian house dedicated to free and daring women.

The 20s - Seduction in motion

The Roaring Twenties are in full swing and Paris is intoxicated with freedom. Mistinguett and Joséphine Baker electrify the stage, all wearing shoes by Ernest.

The heels rise, the looks too: more than a shoe, an object of desire.

The Ernest woman asserts herself, rises to the top and conquers the city with audacity and sensuality.

The 1920s

1926. On stage, Mistinguett sets the Moulin Rouge alight, rivaling Joséphine Baker who electrifies the Folies Bergères.

But when night falls, everyone meets up at Place Blanche, for a stroll at 75 Boulevard de Clichy...

The 1950s – A New Era

At the dawn of her half-century, Jeanine, Ernest's daughter, takes over the management of the House.

She simplifies the name: ERNEST .

A visionary, she opens a new chapter, combining tradition and modernity. Already, the creations reveal the House's DNA: signature heels that redefine femininity, from the most everyday to the most spectacular.

The 1960s – The Universal Momentum

Ernest catalogs travel from Paris to the entire world.

Every woman, every culture, finds herself in this same aspiration: freedom.

A universal figure was born: the Ernest Woman , embodying audacity, elegance and independence.

The 1970s – The Icon Photographed

Artists embrace Ernest's universe. Helmut Newton immortalizes the Elysée pump and its vertiginous 14 cm heel, making it a symbol of sensuality and self-affirmation.

The Ernest heel becomes a legend, an ally of all women who dare to reinvent themselves.

The 1980s – Fashion and Audacity

Paris comes alive at night, and Ernest shines at the feet of celebrities.

This was the era of the first artistic collaborations. Jean Paul Gaultier, fascinated by the Ernest style, created an iconic model with the House: the GO pump, which is now timeless.

A unique creative bond is born between the House and the couturier, sealing audacity as a common language.

The 1990s-2000s – Stages and Lights

From Blanca Li's shows to Karl Lagerfeld's photos, Ernest has spanned the ages and made his mark on the biggest stages.

Fashion, dance, performance: the Ernest shoe becomes a player in its own right, always faithful to its mission – to enhance femininity through the heel.

The 2010s – Parisian Renaissance

In 2015, the House took back its original name and became Maison Ernest .

Free and liberated from codes, it asserts its Parisian heritage in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

In 2017, the House innovated again by inventing the heel jewel , an exclusive creation that elevates the shoe to the rank of jewel.

The 2020s – A Reimagined Vision

In 2024, Maison Ernest unveils a new creative, contemporary and bold identity, faithful to its heritage.

The signature 55 mm heel embodies liberated femininity: a perfect balance between comfort and sensuality, designed to accompany women day and night.

Today, Maison Ernest celebrates diversity, empowerment and women's freedom, with exceptional craftsmanship that transcends time.
