Maintenance Guide
Each Maison Ernest shoe is crafted with exceptional leathers and materials. To preserve their beauty and comfort, we invite you to follow these simple recommendations, designed as true care rituals.
Patent leather shoes
- Keep your shoes in their Maison Ernest pouch to protect them from moisture, heat, light, and dust.
- Let patent leather breathe: avoid storing your shoes closed in their box for more than a year.
- If you do not have a pouch, store your pairs by colour and material to prevent transfers.
- Gently clean your shoes using a soft cloth.
- To restore their shine, occasionally apply a special patent leather oil.
Matte leather shoes
- Protect your shoes in their pouch to preserve their glow.
- Matte leather naturally has a protective oily film: it is not necessary to treat it in the first weeks after purchase.
- For regular care, use a soft cloth or a dry brush with fine bristles.
- Condition the leather once a year (or more often with frequent use) using a colourless wax.
- Against rain and dampness, we recommend using a suitable waterproofing spray.
Velvet leather shoes
- Keep your shoes safely in their pouch.
- Waterproof them from the first wear, then renew the treatment once a month during damp periods.
- After each use, dust them off with a dry brush specific for velvet.
Resoling
Maison Ernest soles are entirely made of leather, a noble and living material.
Leather wear is natural and does not constitute a manufacturing defect.
To extend their lifespan, we advise having a protective sole guard fitted by a trusted shoemaker after your first uses.
