Maintenance guide

Every Maison Ernest shoe is crafted with exceptional leathers and materials. To preserve their beauty and comfort, we encourage you to follow these simple guidelines, designed as true care rituals.

Patent leather shoes

  • Store your shoes in their Maison Ernest pouch to protect them from humidity, heat, light and dust.
  • Let the patent leather breathe: avoid keeping your shoes closed in their box for more than a year.
  • If you don't have a pouch, store your pairs by color and material to avoid transfers.
  • Gently clean your shoes using a soft cloth.
  • To revive their shine, occasionally apply a special patent leather oil.

Matte leather shoes

  • Protect your shoes in their pouch to preserve their shine.
  • Matte leather naturally has a protective oily film: there is no need to do anything in the first few weeks after purchase.
  • For routine maintenance, use a soft cloth or a dry, fine-bristled brush.
  • Moisturize the leather once a year (or more often if used frequently) using a colorless wax.
  • Against rain and humidity, we recommend the use of a suitable waterproofing spray.

Suede leather shoes

  • Keep your shoes safe in their pouch.
  • Waterproof them when you first wear them, then repeat the operation once a month during wet weather.
  • After each use, dust them with a dry brush specifically for velvet.

Resolving

Maison Ernest soles are made entirely of leather, a noble and vibrant material.

Leather wear is natural and does not constitute a manufacturing defect.

To extend their lifespan, we recommend that you have a protective pad fitted by a trusted shoemaker after your first uses.
